If you want some fun with a “cousinly” flair, just head to the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud and become a part of the family. This Pigeon Forge dinner show is full of music, jokes and delicious food. Your family will laugh until you cry as the Mayor, who wears a lot of hats throughout the course of the evening including emcee, welcomes you to this friendly feud.

I went last week for my first visit and, of course, I decided to bring along my mom, sister and 5-year-old niece. We are a rather loud family, so between the clogging and singing, we all felt right at home as the Hatfield and McCoy’s “battled” it out on stage. In between bites of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, corn on the cob and some of the best rolls I think she’s ever eaten, my niece lit up as she watched the witty characters feud, and the floor of the stage open up into a big swimming hole. Of course, in every good feud one must pick a side, and we were assigned to be Hatfields, so she proudly waved that flag when the characters asked for audience interaction. From the families diving into the pool to watching the dogs leap for their prizes, she couldn’t take her eyes off of the explosive entertainment. Speaking of “explosive,” this show has something for everyone, including the small pyrotechnics lover in all of us.

As the characters resolved their dispute, they came together to honor our country and “took us all to church” with some gospel hymns. When I asked her what her favorite part of the show was, my niece proudly said, “We got to eat everything out of a bucket!” So, the buckets of food were a big hit for the 5-year-old, along with the dancers, the flying machine and the sheriff who got a little too close to the fire. Watching her laugh and enjoy the show was the highlight of the night. From flames and feuding to freedom and forgiveness, the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud has something for all ages.  We will definitely be back - and make sure to save enough room for dessert!
